Invest in the Next Generation of Emergency Managers
The AEMO Scholarship Fund helps emerging professionals access high-quality courses through Pierce College’s Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction, removing financial barriers and opening doors to equitable career pathways. Every contribution makes a difference!

1. What This Scholarship Supports
The scholarship covers tuition for select Spring 2026 courses (100% Online) that strengthen practical, community-focused emergency management skills. This allows 1–3 scholarship recipients to receive up to $1,145 to cover all courses OR select individual courses based on their subject interests. These include:
- AI Foundations for Emergency Management
- Psychology of Disaster & Community Resilience
- Planning to Support People with Access and Functional Needs
- Exercise Evaluation for Emergency Management
- Courses offered in Spanish (cursos en español)
Students can take individual classes that advance their training and strengthen their ability to serve diverse communities.
Closing Date: March 15, 2026 11:59 PM (local time zone)
All contributions received by this date will directly support this scholarship for the Spring 2026 term.

2. Why This Matters
AEMO’s mission is to create pathways into emergency management — especially for students and professionals with 0–3 years of experience, individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, and those who face barriers to entering the field.
This scholarship:

3. Scholarship Eligibilty Requirements
Eligible applicants typically include:
- Individuals with 0–3 years of emergency management experience
- Students enrolled in or planning to enroll in Pierce College IDRR courses
- Individuals from historically marginalized or underrepresented groups in emergency management
- U.S. residents (international students: case-by-case depending on course availability)
5. How It Works
- AEMO raises scholarship funds through community donations and partnerships.
- Funds are reserved specifically for tuition support through Pierce College IDRR.
- Students apply via a short scholarship application (coming soon).
- AEMO reviews applications based on need, interest, and EM career goals.
- Selected students receive tuition support directly applied to Pierce College IDRR courses.
6. Transparency & Stewardship
AEMO is committed to clear, honest stewardship of all scholarship donations. 80% of every donation is allocated directly to the Scholarship Fund, while 20% supports essential administrative and program costs. Scholarship recipients may receive up to $1,145 to cover all courses or may choose individual courses based on their subject interests. Annual impact summaries will be shared with donors.
