The Idaho Association of Counties (IAC), formed in 1976, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan member service organization dedicated to the improvement of county government. It was designed and incorporated by county elected officials to provide services, research, uniformity, and coordination among member counties, in order for the county elected officials to serve their constituents better.

The Illinois Emergency Services Management Association membership is comprised of professional emergency managers, emergency management staff and private sector partners across the State of Illinois. As the voice of Emergency Management, IESMA serves as the conduit from local to state and federal agencies. IESMA utilizes a collaborative platform to enhance the emergency management profession through mutual aid services, public relations and professional standards.

EMAI is made up of dedicated and knowledgeable emergency managers who share the goal of building a resilient Indiana and protecting life and property through preparedness and mitigation practices. KEMA offers networking opportunities among local emergency managers as well as opportunities to interact with state and national emergency management professionals and other affiliated individuals, governmental agencies and interested private groups.

The Kentucky Emergency Management Association is a Kentucky-based non-profit corporation originally established in 1991. The Keystone Emergency Management Association (KEMA) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1977 in Pennsylvania, originally as Pennsylvania Civil Defense Association, to provide a platform for individuals and organizations involved in emergency management, emergency preparedness, and homeland security to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate in order to enhance the overall emergency preparedness in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our members include emergency preparedness and management professionals, government agencies, private sector organizations, associations, and other stakeholders involved in emergency preparedness, management, and homeland security.

The Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association (LEPA) is a non-profit statewide organization of emergency preparedness and response practitioners with the common goal of improving public safety in emergencies. LEPA was formed in 1980 by a group of local civil defense directors who recognized the need to expand and incorporate personnel in emergency service organizations into a cohesive and productive association.

Maine Association of Local Emergency Managers (MALEM) is a 501c3 non-profit organization supporting and enhancing local emergency management efforts in the state. The Mission of MALEM is to promote and represent the field of Emergency Management in order to enhance the safety of all citizens of and visitors to the State of Maine.

Originally formed in 1986 as the Maryland Emergency Management and Civil Defense Association the organization was formed to promote and support adequate Emergency Management and Civil Defense in the State of Maryland; coordinate the efforts of all members in a common front to protect the lives and property of all persons within the State against natural or man-made disasters or enemy action; to evaluate and disseminate the common experience and collective judgment of those specialists trained in and responsible for Emergency Management and Civil Defense activities; serve as a clearing house for ideas, suggestions and courses of action between members; and to act in concert with and in a professional advisory capacity to other organizations regarding Emergency Management and Civil Defense.

The Michigan Emergency Management Association (MEMA) aims to support and enhance emergency management in the State of Michigan.

The Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers is comprised of 440 county, city and other emergency response planners throughout the state of Minnesota.

The purpose of the Association is to advance and improve the profession of emergency management through education, increased public awareness, and professional development in the State of Mississippi; to promote the interchange of programs, ideas and best practices in the profession in the state; and, to create and promote a feeling of fellowship and understanding among and between county governments, municipal governments, state government and the emergency managers / civil defense directors and staff in each of the aforementioned governments and the citizens they represent.

The South Carolina Emergency Management Association (SCEMA) is a professional association that represents emergency management professionals in the state of South Carolina, United States. SCEMA is composed of individuals and organizations involved in emergency management, including emergency managers, first responders, government officials, and other professionals who work to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.

South Dakota is made up of 66 counties with a wide range of landscapes and communities of all sizes. Each county has a designated Emergency Manager. This position in some counties is a 1/4 time role, in others a 1/2 time role, while other counties may have a full-time director with additional support staff. The goal of Emergency Management professionals is to protect lives, property and the environment while overseeing the planning, response, recovery and mitigation of any and all major disasters/emergencies that occur within the county.
