  • Volunteer Positions

    We currently are seeking the following volunteer positions.

  • NEW! Membership Committee Members

    Commitment: 4-6 Hours Per Month
    Location: Remote

    About AEMO:
    Aspiring Emergency Managers Online (AEMO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and educating individuals pursuing careers in emergency management. Through a dynamic network, AEMO provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help aspiring professionals thrive in the field.

    Role Overview:
    Membership Committee Members support the Chair in managing AEMO’s membership initiatives. They assist with outreach, engagement, and retention efforts to ensure a vibrant and active membership base.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in reviewing membership applications and ensuring smooth onboarding.
    • Participate in outreach efforts to expand AEMO’s membership, including connecting with aspiring emergency managers.
    • Engage with current members to encourage participation in events, discussions, and professional development opportunities.
    • Support membership surveys and feedback collection to identify areas for improvement.
    • Work with the Fundraising and DEIBA Committees to align membership growth with AEMO’s overall goals.
    • Help organize membership engagement initiatives such as mentorship programs, networking events, and webinars.
    • Promote AEMO membership through personal networks, industry events, and social media.
    • Attend and actively participate in committee meetings, providing ideas and updates on assigned tasks.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of or interest in emergency management, disaster preparedness, or related fields.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
    • Some experience with outreach efforts to the general public.

    Aspiring Emergency Managers Online (AEMO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and educating individuals pursuing careers in emergency management. Through a dynamic network, AEMO provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help aspiring professionals thrive in the field.

    Role Overview:
    AEMO is seeking passionate and skilled writers to join our volunteer blogging team. As a Blogger, you’ll craft engaging content aligned with AEMO's mission, including topics such as career tips, industry trends, personal stories, and professional development resources for emergency management. Your work will contribute to educating and empowering our community of over 4,500 members.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write and submit 1-2 well-researched, original blog posts per month (400–800 words).
    • Collaborate with AEMO’s team to align content with organizational goals and audience interests.
    • Incorporate feedback and edits into blog posts as needed.
    • Stay informed about emergency management trends to create relevant and insightful content.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of or interest in emergency management, disaster preparedness, or related fields.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
    • Experience with blogging, content creation, or storytelling is a plus but not required.
